Providers
The National Skills Academy for Manufacturing (the Skills
Academy) delivers its portfolio of world-class training
products and provisions through an approved network of vocational
training providers ranging from FE Providers, HE Institutions,
private companies and specialist individuals.
This network is the catalyst between employers and learners to
develop a more effective manufacturing workforce in the UK. By
maximising the learning experience and the transfer of knowledge
directly in the workplace, the Skills Academy can ensure direct
business benefits to UK manufacturing companies.
The Skills Academy's training providers
incorporate a clear progression pathway to support individual
development, business learning at all levels and performance
improvement linked to professional qualifications.
The Skills
Academy Standard
The Skills Academy is a beacon for
security for employers with all training providers certified
against world-class standards of both training content and
delivery.
All trainers delivering the Skills Academy's
products have successfully completed a thorough validation process,
proving their competence to deliver world-class subject
knowledge. All of the Skills Academy trainers have also
demonstrated the ability to adopt leading edge training techniques
ensuring they not only deliver the best content but also train in
the most powerful way possible. This unique combination
ensures our programme members receive the best.
All of our training is supported by powerful
pre-course materials and learning logs to help best prepare and to
embed the learning following return to the workplace. This
again ensures the maximum benefit from the learning.
Benefits
Working within the Skills Academy network
enables providers to discover first-hand what manufacturing
employers need and gives them the support to provide it. The
network facilitates the sharing of good practice and provides
access to high-quality training materials, along with development
for trainers and assessors.
Validation by the Skills Academy identifies
organisations as first-class providers of skills training for
manufacturing employers and demonstrates their commitment to the
highest standards. Providers who are validated will have a
competitive edge over their peers, with the potential to open up
greater business opportunities.
Capable
Capacity Building
While creating a new programme, that is more
engaging for the learner, we have added accelerated learning
techniques and product familiarisation, doubled the size of the
cohort and eliminated at least one stage of the process. Two recent
pilots covering 36 trainers/assessors yielded an average pass rate
over 80% and attracted comments like “best training programme I
have been on” and “significantly better than previous B-IT
training”. In addition the process of trainer/assessor
accreditation has been aligned to reflect the progression pathway
concept highlighted by Leitch while simultaneously enhancing the
economic benefit for providers. The new ‘earn while you learn’
approach recognises three levels of accredited provision from
Associate, through Validated to Master.
