MX Awards

The Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) annual Manufacturing Excellence Awards is the premier award scheme for the UK manufacturing industry, supporting and recognising manufacturing success. In June 2009, The Skills Academy was proud sponsor of the Best Small or Medium Enterprise Award. Bob Gibbon, Managing Director of The Skills Academy, said: “We recognise the good work that IMechE does in promoting excellence in manufacturing and we were delighted to have the opportunity to sponsor this award. The manufacturing sector has suffered significantly over the past year but there are still many small and medium-sized firms that continue to prosper despite the recession. Invariably, they have embraced skills training and the latest business improvement techniques to help them compete in an increasingly competitive global market and we were pleased to be able to recognise the achievements of Gripple Ltd, the wire fastener maker from Sheffield, as winners of this award.”
